Your own key is used first, always. If it has been refusing for about 90 seconds and you are signed in, engine work can be carried on our connection so a long run finishes. Conversations never use it, you can switch it off, and your files and memory are not part of it either way.

Reading and indexing your own files works with no network at all, and costs nothing per search. Anything that needs an AI to think needs a connection, so this is not a fully offline product.
